This small, two day intensive class is designed to prepare families for labor and birth. This class provides evidence based information on the physiological and emotional aspects of labor and delivery. Our goal is to increase your confidence, reduce anxiety and eliminate fear about the birthing process. Elements of natural and medicated birth will be equally discussed to include the role of the partner, labor coping techniques, exercises and positioning for optimal labor outcomes, medical interventions, medications, cesarean birth and postpartum. *Optional private space provided for couples to privately practice positioning.* Cost: $ 100 per couple (cash, check or credit, payment plans available) Date: June 11th & 12th Time: 10-1 Location: Capitol Heights, MD Presenter Bios: Muneera Fontaine is entering her 7th year practicing as a doula and has attended 50+ births across various settings (hospital, home, and birth center). She is a certified doula (ICTC) and currently sits on their board. She is co-founder of the group Doulas of Color and has presented local trainings to aspiring doulas on comfort measures, supporting families through birth loss, and positioning for optimal birth. She has three children and has birthed in a hospital, birth center, and home. She is a proud VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) mom and especially loves to work with other mothers who desire the same. She is certified Womb Sauna practitioner, Peer Breastfeeding Consultant, Ed.D candidate in Special Education, and has been a Special Educator specializing in infancy and early childhood for the past 15 years.
